Our Home

Parish Property

Corpus Christi has been blessed with 15 acres of pristine land. This property currently houses our Rectory and a well-utilized Hall that was constructed in 1999. The time is upon us to break ground for the construction of our new Church. Our architect understood that our location, with views of God’s Catalina and Rincon mountain ranges, would only enhance the esthetic beauty of our new building and did his level best to ensure we incorporated these views. Thirty percent (or 4.5 acres) of this land will be left undisturbed at the completion of this project.

New Structures

Building Exterior
Floor Plan

The new construction, measured at 16,625 sq. ft, will include, our New Church, Chapel, Reconciliation Room, Narthex, Sacristy, Usher’s/Eucharistic Room, Bride’s Room, Janitor’s Room, Bathrooms and Storage Space. The design will be a "Southwest Mission" style that could be described as rustic with warm desert colors and a thoughtful use of natural materials such as wood, brick, stone and wrought iron. Our goal is a welcoming environment that reflects the beauty of our surroundings and the depth of our faith; a traditional style brought into the year 2007. The entryway into the Church will provide a covered, arched pedestrian walkway anchored by a fifty-foot high bell tower.

Sanctuary

Sanctuary Interior

The Sanctuary will accommodate 650 parishioners and utilize a fan shaped layout that includes a raised altar. A combination sloped; flat floor is planned. Padded pews will be installed (for acoustical value) along with limited use of single chairs in the choir area and select additional areas. Our goal is to design seating that provides comfort while allowing for clear visibility and stellar voice quality to and from the Altar and Pulpit. A large clear glass window is designed directly behind the Altar allowing for a view of the majestic Rincon’s. A suspended cross will hang directly in front of this window, a constant reminder to us of Christ’s love for us. Stained glass is expected to fill the windows to the south as well as the many of the smaller upper windows. Many lower windows will remain clear glass exposing the Santa Catalina’s to the North and the Rincon’s to the East.

Chapel

Chapel Interior

This unique layout will accommodate 150 parishioners in individual chairs providing an intimate, quaint setting for daily Mass, funerals, and weddings. The Chapel will also be used as overflow for Sunday worship services. A folding, operable, glass wall will divide this space from the Sanctuary and at the same time the wall will allow inclusivety between Sanctuary and Chapel. Small, low windows to the west are marked for stained glass and the large, clear windows on each side of the Altar will allow for exposure of the majestic Santa Catalina Mountains to the North.

Parking

There will be a total of 287 parking spaces. This number includes the current existing spaces. Eleven-handicap parking spaces and two (2) drop off areas will be available. In keeping with the natural topography, the new parking area will be lower by about 7-8 feet from the base of the new structure. The architect wanted to ensure we had views of the Santa Catalina Mountains from inside the Sanctuary over the tops of cars! Parking islands are planned that include ample greenery and lighting.

Plaza & Walkway

Linking the present hall with the new Church will be an outdoor plaza highlighting a beautiful water feature. The plaza will be well suited for social gatherings, a small preschool children’s play area, and Stations of the Cross. Future phases will complete this plaza linking all structures with the arched covered pedestrian walkway.
